Bricks in the Six 2024

Blacklug Goes International: Bricks in the 6 (Canada)

November 2024 marked a huge milestone for Blacklug, as we took our first-ever international step at the Bricks in the 6 convention in Toronto, Canada. Having spent four years living in Toronto, with my first accommodation based in Mississauga, attending this event was a no-brainer for me. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect, and let me tell you—it was an experience I’ll never forget.

The event was an absolute blast! It was a whirlwind of excitement and, admittedly, exhausting, but every second was totally worth it. Bricks in the 6 spanned across four days—Thursday and Friday were dedicated to setup and workshops, while Saturday and Sunday opened the doors for the public to see the amazing displays. The scale of the event was massive—honestly, it reminded me of Bricktastic in the UK, in terms of size and scope.

Traveling to an international event, not knowing anyone in person except for a few conversations with members of ToroLug (which, by the way, I’m now a proud member of!), had me a little nervous. But any feelings of trepidation disappeared the moment I arrived at the event on Thursday afternoon. The atmosphere was incredibly welcoming, and I have to admit, my UK accent didn’t hurt—let’s just say it worked as a bit of a “cheat code” in terms of striking up conversations!

One of the most memorable aspects of the event was meeting fellow AFOLs (Adult Fans of LEGO) and Master Builders from all over. It truly made the experience even sweeter. The love and support from the visitors was something I had never experienced before—it was incredible. Not only did I make some great new friends, but I was also warmly welcomed into the Canadian LEGO community with open arms.

What made it even more special was the amount of AFOLs who expressed interest in being part of Blacklug, offering their support in any way they could. It felt amazing to know that the message we’ve been spreading is resonating and inspiring others.

A massive thank you to ToroLug and Parlugment, everyone in Toronto and outer regions who visited for the love and support—I’ll definitely be returning for another incredible show. Until next time, Canada!
